What is automatic translation?

Kapiche's automatic translation feature can detect the language of your data and automatically translate text from multiple languages into a common language for analysis and reporting. Currently, only English is supported as the target language.

Note: Automatic translation is not enabled by default. Please reach out to us if you would like access.

How to configure automatic translation on your data

When creating a new Project you'll see the Languages button on the schema selection screen.

(If you don't see this button, it means that Automatic Translation is not enabled for your site. Please contact us for access.)

Clicking on that button will open a modal allowing you to choose which columns to translate. Choose the first column to translate with the "Field" dropdown.

Next, click the "Translate" button in order to enable translation for this column

Finally, the "Translate" button reveals the target language for translation. Currently it's limited to English output. Please reach out if you would like to select a different target language for translation.

When you're finished, click the "Done" button to finish setting up the translation.

How to access the original language data

You can always refer back to the original language data in the Show Info section when viewing Verbatims. It will be listed with the suffix "_original" added to the translated column name.
